Seniman calls itself a modern portfolio theme.  I like the sound of that and at first glance, it’s a really good call.  This theme is a totally fresh take on what a portfolio can be, big and striking typography, dark and bold images.  Seniman was developed by Themes Awesome and they’re really known in the WordPress world for great designs and solid features.  So far so good, this theme has been downloaded almost a dozen times in the first few days on the market.

It’s going to be huge.

Okay, thanks for the introduction ThemesAwesome.  Let’s take a look at what Seniman looks like on the screen.  This is the first look.  The layout is really nice, the typography is an attention getter for creatives and designers.  Freelancers will definitely benefit and I think small design firms could too.

Here’s the second look at a different style for the home page.

Just a little different, good for images that are off center.  And finally, a third look that’s much more WordPress personal blog style than the fullscreen, graphically eye catching designs of the first two styles.

I really, really like the style of this theme.  It’s strong but not overbearing.  I think it’s going to be a huge hit in the last quarter and into next year.

So, here we go, the features and functions list.  Seniman has a responsive design, which is no surprise.  You have to have a responsive design.  SEO optimized, which we’ll get to in a minute.  Google fonts power the typography, there are 10 different page builder addon blocks, like heading titles, testimonials, team, contact, gallery and client blocks.  Plenty more too.

You’ve got a variety of page templates, post formats for video, gallery and standard posts.  Multiple header, footer and content options.  The theme looks great, right?  I think so anyway.  But, now’s the moment of truth.

How about the speed check, see if this thing really is SEO optimized.

Wow, it’s been a while since a theme actually loaded up fast.  I’ve had a run of really slow loaders.  This one loads up fast.  A respectable 68 requests and a sub-two second load time, which is nice.  Remove query strings from static resources and it’ll probably load up even quicker.  I’m going to give this theme the thumbs up in terms of speed, I bet it really will load up fast and look great as it does it.

Vernum is still going strong over a year after our first review of this theme.  It’s now up to a solid 350+ sales and the reviews are still positive, the theme developer is still updating it and supporting it too.  It’s probably not worth the $39 price tag though, since there are a lot better themes available for a similar price.

It’s been over a year since we looked at ROUA and it’s high time we take another look, just to make sure it’s still worth recommending.
